Speaking at a Conference
I have been asked to speak at the 2007 New York State Reading Association (NYSRA) Conference in Saratoga Springs this coming November. This is really cool for a lot of reasons.
First, I really respect the challenge reading specialists have when it comes to encouraging under-enthusiastic kids to read. The best I can do is to try my best to put engaging and fun book sout there. The rest is up to them. God bless you.
Another reason this conference is going to be great is because I will be speaking at the same event as two close friends, Rose Kent and Coleen Paratore. For those of you who follow my blog, you'll recall Rose Kent's debut novel, Kimchi and Calamari has recently released to great reviews. Coleen Paratore is the uber-popular middle grade author of the Wedding Planner's Daughter series. I'm very excited about her upcoming release, Mack McGinn's Big Win, due out this summer. It will be an honor (and a challenge to speak at the same conference as these two powerhouses).
The third reason I'm thrilled to speak at this conference is because there is going to be a special guest speaking there. I'll give you a hint:

Oh, and...
How cool is that?
Oh, and if you can't figure out who it is from the images, please feel free to join us from your cave at any time.
