Quiz About Books for Me

I'm not sure who to give credit to for this quiz, but here are my answers:

Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback?
I like hardbacks sitting on my shelf...with the dust jackets perfect and intact. As for reading, I like trade paperback best. Mass market paperbacks are too small and too blurry and too greyish and it slows down my reading momentum. With hardbacks I worry about the dust jacket getting torn.

Bookmark or dog-ear?
Bookmark. I usually use a card someone's given me so I can read the card if I get bored with the book.

Alphabetize by author, alphabetize by title, or random?
I have no system. I would love to have a system, but right not I don't even have proper bookshelves. Right now, my books are stacked on a shelf in my closet.

Keep, throw away, or sell?
If I love the book of if it's signed, I consider it a keeper. If it's not a keeper, I give them away to people who might like them better than me or I donate books to the library.

Keep dust jacket or toss it?
Haven't you been reading? Look at my first answer.

Read books with their dust jackets on or off?
I read books with their dust jackets on. It makes for a more colorful reading experience.

Short story or novel?
Novels, novels, novels!

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
I've read both and I will have to say my passion for Snickett petered out after the first few. The plot kept repeating in different settings. I have the last two still sitting on my dresser and I never seem to get to them.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
I really like going to chapter breaks, but my reading stamina is not very good. I tend to read in short snippets (not to be confused with Snickets). Hence, I like books with short chapters. It really makes a difference to me.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
Neither. First lines are very important to me and both of these suck.

Buy or borrow?
I like to buy books, but with the volume I read that tends to be cost-prohibitive. I'm at the library weekly getting out stacks of stuff: books, graphic novels, audiobooks, you name it.

New or used?
New. I like that new-book smell.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
All of the above, but I'm very careful about which reviews I listen to. Usually, it's a combination of the three. I read a review, get a recommendation, say, "didn't I just read a review about that?" Go back and read the review. Then, hunt for the book. Then, maybe buy it. Maybe.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
I hate cliff hangers. I think a book should be a neat, tidy package. However, I don't mind ambiguous endings. There's a distinct difference.

Read in the morning, afternoon, or evening?
Whenever I get a chance.

Stand-alone or series?
As long as it's a good story, I don't care.

UGLIES by Scott Westerfeld (along with the oteher ones)
