Hooray for Google Alerts
For those of you who are not familiar with Google Alerts, it is a free service of Google where they alert you when certain keywords or strings of keywords appear someplace on the Internet. I have Alerts installed for my name, book titles, etc. Google Alerts has helped me find reviews I might never otherwise have seen, like the one by the Assembly on Literature for Asolescents (ALAN).
Another fun thing you can do with Google Alerts is attract neurotic authors to your own blog. They're like hungry flies looking for that elusive lump of sugar. Here, watch:
Lisa Yee, author of Absolutely MAybe
John Green, author of Looking for Alaska
David Lubar, author of all the Weenies bookks
Barry Lyga, author of Boy Toy
Jordan Sonnenblick, author of Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie
David MacInnes Gill, author of Soul Enchilada
Julia DeVillers, author of Liberty Porter
Let's see who responds first.
I also love Google Alerts because I get to learn about how I've done so many other noteworthy things around the globe. I am on lots of high-school honor rolls, have bowled plenty of perfect 300 games, am an accomplished swimmer, play college football and have been featured in some movie called the The Tulse Luper Suitcases (has anyone actually seen this?). So, rock on, Eric Luper!
